The exhibition of the Native Museum of Vrnjačka Banja “Health in a glass” by Jelena Borović Dimić and co-author Blagoj Dimić will be opened in the Gallery of the Museum of the Rudnica-Takov Region on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1 p.m.
The accent at the exhibition was placed on a collection of specific spa furniture – spa glasses. More than 150 years ago, mineral water was collected from specially made glasses. The wealthier guests used porcelain glasses with nipples, usually brought from Karlovy Vary or glass brought from Lipik. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, as the spa became more and more famous, the production of glasses with Vrnjak motifs began. The specificity of the glasses is that they are graduated in milliliters, so the spa guest could easily pour exactly the amount of water prescribed by the doctor into the glass. Those oldest glasses were made of fragile glass, while after the Second World War they were made of stronger glass. By the end of the seventies of the 20th century, glass cups were replaced by plastic ones.
Glasses, as well as other interesting items related to the development and history of Vrnjačka Spa, can be viewed at the “Health in a Glass” exhibition, which will be open in the museum from December 2, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
