The sculptural unit under the name of the Victory Monument, which is placed in the town centre of Gornji Milanovac, to be more precise, in the Prince Mihailo Square, is a work of art of Ratomir Stojadinović from 1959. The monument consists of two sculptural forms. The horizontal one has two white marble walls, joined at a right angle as an open book, whose surfaces have a carved figural relief depicting a mother who is protecting her child from fire as well as a profile of a national hero who is fighting with an enemy soldier. Besides that, the other part of the unit consists of a vertical iron obelisk in the shape of lightning aiming towards the sky. The monument is interpreted as a symbol of suffering, striving for freedom and successful liberation.
